In an attempt to bolster Android’s presence in mobile gaming Google is reportedly developing an app that is similar to Apple’s Game Center, and is looking to revamp its Google Play payment system to streamline purchases.
Once hailed as the first true rival to the iPad, Amazon’s Kindle Fire no longer seems to be much of a threat to Apple’s tablet. The Fire had no impact on Apple’s March-quarter iPad sales. Indeed, during the company’s second-quarter earnings call, CFO Peter Oppenheimer said Apple is selling new iPads “as fast as we can make them.”
There’s a reason why so many developers feels iOS users are more valuable than Android: Apple is killing it in mobile gaming with 84 percent of all mobile gaming revenue in the US.
It may seem strange that a Dutch company would launch 7 inch tablets in China, but that’s exactly what Philips is doing these days. China may be in love with the iPad but there’s still room for lower diagonal tablets with lower prices. Back to Philips, they’re launching 7 inch Android 4.0 ICS tablets.
